Hi,

I came back from holiday to find that my Baxi Solo 2 boiler is not working as it use to.
It runs normal for about 5-10 mins and then the gas solenoid cuts out. The spark carries on trying to ignite the pilot burner indefinitely. If I turn off the boiler and leave it off for 10 mins, it start again as normal and cuts out again after 5-10 mins.
I called a Corgi plumber who tried swapping the control unit but this did not work. He then suggested that it could be the air fan. but then changed his mind when he saw the fan keeps running even after the gas cuts out.
It has cost me a lot of money already. Has anyone got a clue as to what to try next? I ruled out the overheat thermostat as the associated light never comes on? could it me the main thermostat?

Your help is very much appreciated? thanks in advance.

Joe

:?: pilot soleniod coil goes open circuit when warm, stopping pilot operation, you can just buy the coil from HRPC

Hi

Are you saying that when the boiler runs for the first time it does not require the pilot injector to function?

Regards,

Joe

It uses the pilot solenoid but after 5-10 mins when the coil is warm it goes open circuit. stopping main burner and pilot.

Sorry Corgigizza, my previous question was sent before seeing your response to my initial posting.

Do you know by any chance how I can remove the Solenoid? since in the Baxi boiler servicing manual they only talk about replacing the whole control valve as a complete unit!!
Is there any particular internal parts I have to pay attention to when removing the solenoid?

Kind Regards,

Joe
