We have Baxi Solo 2 PF 50 boiler which has an intermittent problem - when the boiler starts for either central heating or water heating the boiler does not fire from cold.

The pilot is alight and you can hear it clicking attempting to light but its as if there isn’t enough gas – if I pop outside and put my hand just in front of the vent I can feel it fire up / light and sure enough it has.

Once it has fired / warmed up it is usually ok and if the thermostat in the house clicks off then back on a couple of minutes later it may click for a short while but will light however if I hear it I will pop out and cover the vent briefly but there is obviously a problem that needs fixing – I don’t want to have it coming on in the night just pumping out gas for obvious reasons.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? And is it an easy fix for someone who knows what he is doing (not me)

Please advise.

It's an easy fix for a RGI. Get your boiler serviced before Winter. Worth looking after a fairly good boiler.

It feels like winter outside already!

Servicing is best done during the summer!

Thanks, believe it or not I've had someone recommended to me and been trying to get them round since start of august but he's been stalling and i've had a couple of holidays in that time, he's now turned round and said he's not interested in the job.

Wish he'd said that back then.

Postcode is SG1 for anyone interested in having a look?

Just tried Baxi Heateam and getting a message about how busy they currently are.
