Hi ! I am hoping some knowledgeable person will be able to assist as I'm at my wits end !!! My invented system with the above mentioned boiler was installed in 2007 (before we moved to the house in 2008) we have had no end of problems over the last 2 years with it constantly "locking out" in November/December (when the heating usually gets turned on) we have had numerous visits from our reliable/capable plumber but the problem still persists ! We assumed the "air gap" in the tank needed re-doing, but since this has been done...we now have loads of cold water before any sign of hot water appears from the tap and the system still needs re-setting at least 5 or 6 times before it finally decides to work !!! Any help/advice would be very much appreciated... thanks, Neil

you need a reliable and capable repair engineer ;) , shyte boiler and a pain/ballache when the engineer doesn't know the boiler . you need to give more details of fault if help can be given

Hi AGAS ! many thanks for the reply...didn't expect to see a response that quickly ! Just hoping i don't need to actually replace the boiler this soon (10 years old) but I can't seem to find anybody to sort the problem i must have spent out about 4 to 500 pounds so far on replacing sensors/probes what have you ! If you could let me know what info you need I'd gladly send a reply straight away as I don't really fancy it failing completely....cheers, Neil

i see your near my old neck of the woods near stonehouse , i agree with ianmcd and pay £320 which includes parts and labour . believe or not no one likes repairing this boiler as costs can run away with you

Thanks to both for replies... as I said, I've already forked out a fair bit (with no fix) another £320... surely I'd be better off putting that towards a new (non Baxi !) Boiler ??? And AGAS...as you are fairly close (approx 20 miles) would you be interested in having a look ? Rather pay you than fork sub Baxi for a year ! I have biscuits !!! Lol

Neil Yorke I'm about 100 miles away from you now , if i did come down I've got a sneaky suspicion a second visit would be required then tbh my bill would probably be more than £320 with bits included , tbh baxi do good boilers now so don't compare this boiler to there other boilers also parts are cheaper than most and readily available , just think you got the short straw with gaining a house with this boiler in there . as i said before it was a shame you didn't have the right engineer in the first place as those cost could have been drastically reduced if he knew the boiler downfalls .

out of interest did your engineer try just changing the electrodes or the complete front burner door ( inner cover )? as I'm trying to understand why your further costs so far

Hi..he changed the electrodes as he said they were corroded.. not sure about the door but don't remember that being changed... a new flow meter... various emptying/filling.... re-air gapping, tbh, I've lost count ! AND he's serviced it annually for the past 3 years...thought he was a good bloke

Think I need to replace it...as all i ha'e read is that Baxi are not good.... I had a Valiant at my old house...no problem at all (not a Worcester I know) but, as i said.... No problems

thats the problem to start with as suspected and no point going into it now but could be down to simply installing the wrong electrodes because of upgrades other than that your probably better changing to new boiler to be honest .

.as all i ha'e read is that Baxi are not good
don't listen to everything you read after all your original knowledge of your plumber wasn't good either was it ;) . if you took notice of what boiler are shyte on here then every boiler is shyte ;) but it doesn't help when your only searching for baxi boilers ( with your problem ) in this forum so obviously your only going to hear/read baxi are shyte ;) and thats simply wrong but thats my opinion only though

As @AGAS says you could ask ten heating engineers what is the best boiler and you could get 10 different answers , the old baxis were probably the most reliable boilers ever in the days of back boilers, the one you have is crap, new ones are a lot better so dont just dismiss the newer models
