I have a Baxi Solo 3 PFL 50 ( 3 years approx) I now discover that the circulation pump is running continuously when the boiler is off . Can anybody offer an explanation/ solution?

Several posts recently on this. Can be the boiler or a motorised valve problem.

Assuming that the system is wired correctly, here’s one test you could try. With the system running observe the boiler on light fitted to the boiler control panel. It should be lit. Switch off the heating and hot water and the lamp should go out within a few seconds. This shows that the external system controls are switching off OK. When this light goes out it will start the pump overrun cycle which runs the pump for about 8 minutes. If the pump continues to run after this time suspect the boiler PCB.

If the boiler on lamp remains lit when the heating and hot water is switched off the fault is with the external controls such as motorised valve microswitch(es) or cylinder thermostat depending whether you have a Y or S plan.
