Was called to a gas leak today-turned out it was the boiler itself-when the boiler is turned on it does 1 of 3 things-
1. fan starts-igniton starts and both the main gas and piolt gas start to flow at same time!
2. nothing hapens at all
3. fan does not start but power is sent to the gas valve which then opens and vents gas into the burner!
you can physically see the valve open when the power is turned on and close when it is isolated so im thinking its the pcb sending power to the multifunction control when it shouldnt be.
Not done many breakdowns so far mainly ben installing/servicing.Does this sound like a pcb problem to anybody with experience or have i ordered the wrong part

its a pretty old thing- a baxi solo wm 30/4 pf.
found the manual on parts arena and now have the fault finding guide as there are 3 orange lights on control box-but cant remember which ones were lighting up now

Had a feeling it was that one, has it got the fan at the top with 2 wing nuts?the new PCB comes with a new fault/light up sequence too. Personally i'd change the pcb, strange fault, but so am i...

yeah thats the one-to think i was just sent there to locate and fix a gas leak-a nice easy job ...........not

No - you're confusing the Solo with the Solo 2

The Solo has no neons

Changing the pcb without testing the voltages to the GV ?

Who pays for the new PCB if you've misdiagnosed the problem ?

CORGIs eh ?

this boiler is the solo and it does have the neon test lights-voltage has been tested to gas valve-pcb is sending the voltage when it shouldnt be......................if it proves not to be pcb then customer wont be charged for it-thats the way my company works.
non CORGI`s eh?

Found what the fault was today-2 weeks ago they had the air pressure switch replaced so checked it out-they had fitted a switch from a solo2 onto it-replaced with proper one and working great now!

So if the aps drifts the gas valve can open without ignition?
Sorry, I don't buy it.

Thjen tell me who you are, I'll reccommend you to my customers

Chris the Solo 1 pcb can go into this condition if a Zener / cap goes down

The same can happen to the profile

So much for inherently safe design eh?

I could do better in my sleep
