Hi,

Our Baxi boiler packed up just after Xmas which turned out to be the fan, which I replaced but now the boiler constantly overheats and needs to be reset. In addition, there is a god almighty banging/thumping noise coming from the hot water tank followed by a grinding noise from the pump.
This I think happens at the same time as the the boiler overheating and flicking off.

Over the last couple of days the overheating occurs every 10 mins if the hot water is on but lasts a few hours if it's just the central heating.

Any ideas? Problem with the fan install?

Water levels incorrect, and air in system.
Blockages preventing circulation.
Pump defective.
Probably not the fan.

Opening the boiler and replacing the fan is classed as gas work.

That should only be done by a gas registered engineer!
