Hi all, I have been out painting the rendering the bay of our 1930s house and noted that the wood at the bottom of the render is rotten in one area.

Is it easy enough to cut out and replace or is there something more complex involved?

I am also looking at repair care’s resin to fill the hole as well.

Thank you for any advice.

Yes, its possible to cut out a rotten piece of the frame head - and replace with a block of planed timber. It might be too much for filler.
Probe all the headwork timber of lower and upper bays, there might be more rot.
The lead flashing is only semi protecting the woodwork below but theres not much to be done without doing a much larger job.
