BBU rip out.

H

hav it

Some of you old installers might be able to help, went to look at a job today they want a combi installed, there is an old baxi bbu in use at present. This might sound daft, but iv been unable to locate cylinder in house and the only place left is in the loft, on quick inspection the vent from system comes out of chimney stack so im guessing its around there some where. also in the cupboard in the bedroom the only pipe thats to been seen looks like some sort of bypass in lead in a s shape with 15mm tails. Any tips on the best way to go about this.

Look in the loft?

Or have I missed something?

How are you going to price it if you do not know where cylinder is for existing connections can be bundle of pipe if you get it wrong.

The s shaped thing is purely to heat airing cupboard and its lazy way of doing it , it should be copper.

We have houses with a similar system and the cylinders are in a big panelled in cupboard in kitchen right behind back boiler in lounge with no indication that is where cylinder is

Concrete panelled house by any chance? . If so there is a steel beam right through middle of house that you will prob have to get through or around with pipework
