Hi

I've had building regs/structural calcs approved for a PFC that will be sitting across a new porch & garage. It will only be supporting a small pitched roof.

SE calcs show that a padstone should be used on the outside garage wall.
If I was to sit the beam directly onto the brickwork (instead of the blockwork), could I get away without using a padstone?

Thanks

You prob don't need a padstone for either.

Before you buy it, ask the SE to redesign it using UB section, as that will cost you less.

Have it sat on the block work wall but replace the block it would be bearing onto with 30N engineering bricks instead of a conc. padstone.
