A year back I bought a tiny tub of silicone grease.

Today I needed to use it to fit new toilet and I was a bit surprised that it was quite sticky - not slippery at all. I've never had proper silicone grease so not sure I've got the right thing. Next time I will definitely buy something from a known outlet so at least I know what I'm getting!

Last thing is, if it bloody is sealant, I got the pipe in the stack ok will this cause a leak or some other problem I haven't thought about?

Good point just pumps - I was thinking of LSX in the tube.;)

Leave a bit exposed to the atmosphere for a while and see if it cures.
No change means it’s grease.

Some silicone grease is thick and sticks as hell. Dow Corning vacuum grease isbdamn near impossible to wash off, but it'll last through anything. Even 6 months in boiling seawater if it takes your fancy
