Part of the flushing mechanism inside the tank of my upstairs toilet has become broken. As such I need to remove it in order to replace it.

However, the guy that we had install it used (as the instructions told him to) sealant to attach this particular part of the flushing mechanism to the bottom of the tank.

I've got hold of some sealant remover, followed the instructions and left it for well over the required amount of time and the sealant still hasn't become any weaker so that I can remove the broken part.

I've tried getting a razor blade and other sharp pointy objects to try and cut thru, or somehow weaken, the sealant but it's no go since the tank itself is quite small which makes access rather tricky.

If I can't remove this sealant then I can't replace the broken plastic thing that's stuck to the bottom of the tank :(

I've bought "silicone sealant remover". Have I bought the wrong type?

Can anyone help? :)

If it's stuck with silicone, tough! The Remover only removes very small deposits after you've used a knife. You'll neet to get physical with it. Wood chisel?
