Beko 1512 s washing machine help

when i put it on cycle number 2 (90degree wash) the timer will turn to number 5 (30 degree wash) with in a matter of seconds.Then it will go through the wash cycle as normal as if i put it on number 5. The wife is also complaining that stains are still in the clothes.Has anybody got ideas what I should look for or how to fix this.
