I'm looking to reduce the noise in our bedroom from aircraft and the street without spending a small fortune on new bespoke frames, and, preferably without ruining the look of the windows with secondary glazing.

Would fitting slimline double glazing in the existing frames (e.g Sashglass) help much?
Is it possible to fit acoustic laminate glass in the existing frames using a similar technique of routing out the frame to take a thicker pane? Would this be more effective than slimline double glazing?
