When I first started decorating, I used the cheaper paint/glass scrapers that accept Stanley blades.

I was never particularly happy with them.

In time my go to became the Olfa BTC1

Rather than just a glass scraper, I used it to cut away silicone seals in bathrooms. I was using it this summer on scaffolding. I loosened the nut to remove the safety cover... and the nut fell through the gaps in the scaffold boards and was never seen again.

I went to my local OLFA supplier to buy a new one. Instead I purchased the OLFA GSR-2. It really is a game changer.

The blade is only 0.25mm thick. The blade for the BTC1 is 0.6mm.

I recently used it to remove silicone from anodised aluminium shower trims. Absolutely no scratching whatsoever. I took chisels with me but didn't need to use them.

You may have never heard of OLFA. They are Japanese. The quality of their blades is stunning.

You will pay a premium, but if you are a professional, their products are well worth the money.
