Hello, just joined this forum. Looks like a great place for advice
Hi i like to build garage 6m wide and 9m long flat roof garage (chipboard+felt
what would be the best joist or rsj size for the roof?

Either split the roof in half with a steel UB i.e. 4.5m spans or go with something like Trussforms' 'Easijoist' system and span the 6m.

The floor beam unit size for an Easijoist would be in the realms of 305mm x 95mm at 450mm centres and cost about £2k for a roof of that size.

It would certainly be cheaper to buy a beam and shorter regular timber joists. However, your installation costs will be greater and you will not have the benefit of a hollow web design.
