I have several 16mm square edge floorboards that need to be replaced due to splitting etc. Oddly, they are various widths from 160 to 190mm!

Sixteen mill can't be had off the shelf, but in a previous thread a DIYer was advised to use 18mm which is readily available. In my situation, the 2mm is noticeable even under a carpet having used 18mm on a previouis occasion.

As the floor is hidden under carpet I would be happy to use a sheet material, but is there anything suitable available in this thickness that anyone knows about?

Cheers in advance

If you have the access, another option is to take up a smaller room as "spares" to fill the gaps, and relay that room with 18mm. You can repeat that on another room if you need more in future.

You could fit 18mm boards then sand them down flush.

Or get your local timber merchant (who you bought the 18mm from) to put it through their power plane til it is down to 16mm
