Hi

I recently have taken up a carpet from my stairs and landing to find that the floorboards are in a terrible condition.

I was looking at replacing the existing ones with new ones. but can not find the same size?

my current ones are 16mm thick, wicks do some that are 18mm thick but will this give a lip at the top of the stairs of 2mm when laid.

Please can someone advise me on what is my best option to replace the old boards should I replace all the floor boards with 18mm thick ones?

Two mm is nothing. Just chamfer the leading edge back and inch or so and you will never notice it.
You may find that the 18mm board will 'cup' more than that across the width anyway.
