What would be the best sealant to use to stop a miniscule drip between the toilet bowl and the pipe that leads to it?

There's a plastic bung at the join and I replaced it last year because the dripping was really bad, but, because of a slant in the floor, there still seems to be a tiny bit of back-flow every time the toilet is flushed, resulting in about one or two drops per flush. Although the dripping is slight, we now have a tiny brown stain on the carpet beneath the pipe.

I doubt that replacing the bung again would fix the drip (unless they sell rubber ones?), so what would be a good sealant to use?

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Flush cones can be a pain in the bum when the pan casting is poor.

You'll probably be on a hiding to nothing putting sealant on the outside - it would be better to remove the flush cone, clean and dry everything, and reinsert it with a small amount of sealant. Too much and it might want to pop out, so just put sealant on the last 'vane' of the flush cone, and push it all the way in, and wipe around whatever sealant has oozed out to ensure that it's sealed. Then install the flush pipe, and leave the whole thing an hour before testing.

To answer the question in the title of your topic, I only ever use Dow Corning 785 for this.

Oh do tell us how you seal tiles against a bath, or prevent dirt and unmentionable substances harbouring around the base of a WC pan, without using silicone sealant?
