Best Stanley Knife or Equivalent?

The biggest challenge is getting them out of the packaging.

You can easily slit the packaging with a Stan..

IMO the best knife will depend on the intended use and circumstances. Stanley tend to have good products

Best to have with you all the time Stanley pocket knife

Best for lots of cutting, or tough cutting - fixed curved knife in the plastic holder Various makes, but the holder is a must - no retractable blade to mess with

Best for when there will be some scraping - decorating, second fix and such like ToughBuilt Scraper knife. Also has a tin opener on the other end

Best when cutting a lot of thin materials what need a regular sharp point, or for getting deep or awkward places, 25mm snap-off knife

And always have a second knife with a hook blade ready for when needed.

I have an older generation Stanley Fat Max 25mm. Even after turning the thumb wheel, I often find that the blade extends when cutting through thicker (soft) materials, eg old carpet. I seldom use it.

For wallpapering, I have a 9mm Olfa snap off knife. The black blades are way sharper than regular blades, that said, if I use it cut through carpet, the blade will grab and extended, like the Fat Max version, and invariably snap.

I have one of the old skool fixed stanley knives, I like the fact that the blade doesn't wobble (much) when cutting through thicker materials. Down side, opening it up to remove the blade.
