Can anyone recommend a good tubular latch that will spring back. Normal door handles have springs on them that assist the springing action. The mortice knobs have no spring therefore you have to turn the knob back to get the latch proud again.

Is this inherent in all mortice knobs, are am i using poor quality mortice knobs and latches.

thanks

Jon

No, your using badly fitted ones.
All latches have springs. Loosen off the handles and see what happens.

Are you implying that I fitted the existing ones incorrectly, cause if so you're probably right.

I'll wriggle them about and see if that helps.

Unless your handles are 1lb each most latches will spring back.
Take off the handles and see what happens then refit one by one gently.
All should be fine as long as the latch has a free movement within the striking plate.
