hi

i am going to take out our old electric shower as its being replaced with a mixer.

i am going to rip out the wiring and the pull cord switch but want to leave the main csable in the loft in case anyone wants to fit one in the future. plus its going to be a big mess ripping it right out back to the CU.

Can i just disconnect it from the MCB in the CU (already done) and wrap it up out the way, and then terminate the end in the loft in a junction box which is clearly marked??

cheers

george

The previous occupants of our house left an old shower cable still connected in the CU, and laying loose in the loft with the bare ends waving in the breeze. It may have been taped up once, but any tape had fallen off long ago.

It now terminates on a 13 Amp double socket in the loft, with a 6 Amp MCB in the CU. It runs the TV amp/splitter, and occasionally a lead lamp to see into the more inaccessible corners of the loft.

I used a 47mm pattress. The wires did fit the socket terminals - but only just!
The 6 Amp MCB sort of chose itself, 'coz there was already a spare one in the CU.
