This hole was for a extraction hood that has been removed. The cable will also be removed. I'd like to cover/close the hole. It doesn't have to be pretty because the ceiling will be replaced next year. There is cold space above (barn) so I'll also be laying some insulation above the hole to reduce heat loss. The ceiling is currently wood.

I guess you're not bothered about whether it's flush if it's all getting skipped anyway.
