Just sorting out a mates boiler (worcester heatslave 9.24)prv needed replacing/diverter valve is on order and found out expansion vessel is nakered so ordering 1 of them aswell but looking at the nut connecting to the expansion vessel-the threads are rusty and it seems solid-whats the best way to remove it-apply heat with blowtorch maybe???

Squirt with WD40 wait 1/2 hr, then tap with hammer.

Exactly - well tap a spanner with a hammer. Probably 24mm or 25mm Fixed size ones are better than adjustables for that.
