Hi,

My wifes car is a VW polo - Car drives fine, then suddenly seems to loose power - like its struggling - then picks up fine again... does this alot..

Any ideas?

It could be a lot of things.

If its a petrol it could be a dodgy coil pack.
If its a diesel it could be a dodgy MAF sensor.

Assuming its a relatively recent VW you could find a dealer or independent specialist to read the fault codes stored in the ECU and tell you if anything is wrong.

Strange - ive driven it n its fine - only when she drives it happens.. anyway ill buy a fault code reader n go from there... cheers

Since last discussion, i've had engine swapped - started fine, ran fine.. jobs a good un...

Went to start it 10 mins later -nothing.. engine turns but thats it.. thought sparks.. they're ok.. coil pack would be next, but after that..any ideas?

Decided to get a replacement engine in.. did this on saturday.

Hooked up - turn ignition. starts great - purrs... ignition timing a little out..so turn it off.. fix issue turn key... engine turns.. no spark..

Do you think this could be amplifier or coil?
