Hi! I have a Biasi24s combi boiler. From time to time the boiler red ignition light comes on and the boiler will not work until the reset button is pressed. This can happen at any time whether the boiler is in use or not. I am heating illiterate but I supspect a flue fault. The previous owner spent £1200 on various call outs but no-one could ever find anything wrong. Please can anyone help?

in use or not
SO there it is, sitting there on a warm summer's day, doing nothing, and "ping" the red light comes on all by itself?

Red light is usually ignition failure, fan, aps, electrodes, flame rectification or ignition pcb.

Red light can't come on unless boiler is trying to light or goes off :?

I would suggest NOT calling back any of the previous owners 'boiler engineers'

The ignition circuit which powers the red light is not supplied with power unless there is a call for heat!

The OP must be "mistaken" as we politely call it!

Perhaps a ghost turns on a hot tap when he is not looking!

It always amazes me to hear of people paying a fortune when I do repairs at £84 plus spare parts.

At those prices I could have flow to Wales and still have done it for half that amount.

Get someone to watch the boiler while hot water is demanded repeatedly. The light will glow either within 10 seconds or a anytime after the demand. These are just two possible causes. Also listen to boiler for strange noises.

Suggest no more parts are changed until boiler lockout is not a random lockout.
