Hi All,

Bit of help with a Garda HE Plus. No hot water no heating. Checked diaphragm and that looks ok (no signs of wear). Pin comes out but not enough to operate microswitch. temporarily bent the switch contact to make switch operate and boiler worked fine for about an hour then stopped. The lights showed low pressure or not enough water (as per manual), checked pump and all 'appeared' to be ok there. If i operate the microswitch manually the boiler fires perfectly. The red light comes on the flow switch for the hot water. Just appears that the pin does not contact the microswitch... The diaphragm doesn't actually look that old, the boiler is only about 2 years old. There is a slight leak from the body of the pump, new seal required. Considering pump as per low pressure and presumable this would restrict the flow and ultimately the diaphragm.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Get the leak sorted on the pump first. The microswitch is to prove the pump is running, so any pressure loss MAY affect it.

Other than that I would be looking for crud in the small pipes etc that could be restricting flow to the diaphragm.

Thanks for the reply Dave.

Have stopped the pump leaking now and replaced the diaphragm (just as a matter of course). The boiler still operating the same, have also noticed on further investigation. Firstly, the 2 quick blow fuses on the PCB had blown today, replaced these and operated as follows. The boiler will fire up on heating (having altered the contact still) and opertate for a few minutes, then the pin starts fluctuating in and out. Goes off then restarts. If you run the hot water, the red light on the flow switch illuminates, but the boiler doesnt fire. Turn off the tap and the boiler shows central heating operation on the lights but does not re-fire. Manually operate the micro switch and the boiler fires, reconnect and it stays on until the tap is operated again. I have checked the divertor valve head and this appears to operate normally. The pin from the divertor head is also free and moves without any resistance.
