Lets face it you are not Gas Safe registered and you should not be fixing boilers.
Get yourself registered and ask trade questions in the Combustion Chamber part of this site.
Its embarasing to me that you are asking such basic questions in the full view of the public.
To anyone else reading this please protect yourself by checking someone's Gas Safe number before you let them into your house!
Its time Gas Safe and the HSE served an injunction on you to stop you working on boilers when unregistered.
