Biasi M90F28S - Flashing light fault, failing to ignite

Hi,

I have a Biasi M90F28S (approx 2 years old). It was working fine until this morning when the orange shut out light come on, and since then it has failed to light. Every time I reset the boiler (in accordance with manual), it tries to re ignite but then the orange shut out light comes on again.

I know very little about boilers, what could be wrong? Is it likely to be expensive?

Pressure is 1bar. I can hear the fan running when boiler tries to ignite. I have checked that there is an igntion spark, and there is. I think that gas may not be getting through.

check the flow switch bottom left is working

It's 2005, boilers are all full of wizardry there's a million regulations to comply with just getting in the van to drive to your house and worst of all it's a Biasi, it will be expensive.

Jason, just confirm your gas supply is still on perhaps because the gas cooker is working and that the yellow gas tap under the boiler is vertical.

If so and the boiler is getting to the state that you can see the blue spark before the ignition lockout light comes on then the problem is because the gas valve has failed.

This will be because it is "stuck" as an effect of Glycol antifreeze which Transco put into the gas supply during the winter. It makes them stick when the weather warms up. The later valves have been modified to prevent sticking.

Replacement must be done by a CORGI registered engineer and needs to be correctly setup for minimum and maximum gas pressure not just banged in!

The list price of the gas valve is around £100 and takes about an hour or two to fit.

In spite of what PED implies, the Biasi is just as good as most other boilers and is made from the same parts as the Ideal Mini, Ariston, Halstead and Vokera. All boiler parts are quite expensive just like car parts.

Sister in laws biasi was 18 months old (not fitted by me), naffed gas valve, seems to be a thing with biasi's. £200.00 to repair, disgusting.

I cannot comment on Biasi's credentials, as i am not qualified to do so. However what I can say is having tried all the things that Kev suggested (thank you) with no results, I decided to call a corgi engineer (first £250 covered by my house insurance), and low and behold Agile was right, it's a gas valve problem. The problem was described perfectly by Biasi while Mr Corgi was on the phone to them. Parts have been ordered but until then it's cold baths.
