We stayed at a B&B nearby, included in the price was transport to & from NEC something like "The Red house"

Jolly nice, and they were open to haggling over prices for combined dinner/bed/breakfast deals. Which may have been because they were new. Cant comment on what its like now, but seems to do OK on Tripadvisor.
I remember fancying The Rotunda for cool factor, but IIRC that was expensive.
And we ate dinner once in the Hotel Du Vin and thought we wouldnt mind giving it a try if we ever went back.
