Bitcoin robberies

No, I didn't say they did but Dork asked:

"Have you considered the possibility that what is happening to Bitcoin right now might have been pre-empted by the genius that invented it?"

and I asked:

"What is it that is happening to Bitcoin right now?"

You replied:

"Currency speculation? With resultant volatility?"

which cannot be the right answer as it obviously was not preempted - and neither can anything else that is happening have been preempted.

So you don't think that trading Bitcoin as a speculative investment was pre-empted?

If everyone's getting into Bitcoins, it's already too late. Luckily, I bought Bristol pounds and got in early. When everyone bails out of Bitcoins and looks for something much safer and more stable, Bristol pounds are the obvious choice. Expecting my investment to take off soon. :)

Bitcoin sounds like an internet version of the old pyramid scheme scam, people invest money because they are going to get a lot more money back than they originally put in, they don't really know how it works but they have read alleged testimonials from punters who invested a tenner in bitcoin 5 years ago and their investment is now worth 10 billion today.

A speculative investment is basically the promise of something for nothing, give someone a £1000 and they promise to give you £2000 in return next week, you don't have to do anything to earn the extra £1000 just wait until the check arrives, if only it was that easy.

So, how do you get a bitcoin?
Not knowing, but I had some vague idea that you "sold" your computer to do some number-crunching, and got one or more for your trouble?

if you dont add value to something it is only worth what someone wants to pay to take it off your hands
and iff there are any trading costs although the assets dont change value at time off sale the total asset value you get diminishes by the trading costs
