Bitumen Paint Floorboards

Hello,

I have made the decision to sand and varnish the floorboards in the spare room (regret the decision but too far gone!).

I have bought some replacement boards but they have black bitumen paint on them.

Rather than scrubbing clean for hours on end, can I just flip them?

Are the tongue/grooves symmetrical or are they off-centre? If they're not symmetrical then you'll have to flip all of them. Or have a boundary where you cut one tongue off.
