I think I shall get a second opinion from an independent then. I opened up the boiler and had a look for the switched live wire. No joy as far as I could see! I disengaged the controller from the pump at the connections block, but the boiler fired up and the pump ran still. Reached the limit of my incompetency with boiler electrics.

So, how do I find a good independent? What's part P Simon?

oh right, I see. Building regs. That's England and Wales. I dk if there is a different system North of the Border?

It could be that the pump and S/L are crossed, the pump is definitely not being controlled by the PCB
