block paving set in motar like cobbles

Morning!

I am gravelling my drive but I have a few spare block paving block (purple) from my back garden,

I was going to do a line of them that will meet the tarmac of the pavement and set them in motar similar to cobbles like pic attached.

but only one line of block, can you set block paving blocks in mortar like cobbles with motar all the round each block and a space between each one in a line?

Yes no problem, keep your jointing quite high as the edges off a concrete block paver are more brittle and prone to chipping than a granite sett. Tap them well into the bedding to make sure they are well supported and haunch them as high as possible.
