hi zipper, yea, had the plastic off,i the machine would rinse with the plastic bit off and the impellor would spin but as u said would not drain, ive put the plastic bits back in but now the washer wont rinse,i can hear the motor going inside but thats all,any ideas cheers

The drain pump has nothing to do with the wash (or rinse) process. The circulation motor handles that bit.
Are you saying the drain pump runs continuously??? If it does then you are likely to have a leak & it has activated the flood protection device.

when i had the plastic bits off,i could set on rinse, water would come out the top and the little wheel thing would spin, now ive put it back together the light wont go out on the controls,i can press rinse the light goes on,then press wash and the light comes on,normanly it wouldnt have done that,i would have to turn the machine off close the door and wait an hour, open the door, press the on button, then select whichever wash cycle, close the door and away it goes.
now i close the door i can hear and feel a motor going but no water cycle,im thinking mybe leave it on a while to see if it kicks in,but dont want to burn out the motor.
will look at turning the whole thing of but i dont think it actually plugs into a socket, runs straight into the mains.
hope this makes some sense to u dude, big thanks for the replies

also forgot to mention,i had to scoop out the water and then suck up the rest of the stading water with an syringe to get all the water out completly to have a good look and see where the screws go, to put the plastic back in.

also the flood protection device, can it be reset,im sure i havent a leak, but something might have knocked it whilst i was taking the machine out of the built in unit, somewhat clumsily i might add,and the having to put the b##tard thing back in which needed a few kicks and a lot of cursing.
we can live without it but hate things like this getting the better off me,cheers again

Ok...you need to post the model number + the 12 digit service number that begins with 85---. You'll find both on a sticker on the door lip. Normally a Whirlpool DW signals an error code on the display (if it has one), the start LED flashes in a repeating sequence on models without a display. I am unsure which motor you think you may be hearing? All dishwashers leave a certain amount of water in the sump, this is normal. If it didn't then you would soon notice a bad smell. When you start a cycle the first thing the dishwasher does is pump out stale water in the sump, if it can't do this properly the no water will enter the machine. If the drain pump runs continually it usually means a leak on the baseplate. The antiflood switch will reset once the water is evacuated from the baseplate. Lean the DW forwards & see if water runs out...then post the model details.

hi zipper, had a look and it says
ADG450/05

i took some pics of the door open.
cant tilt it forward unless i take it out of its housing.
i hope this sheds some light on it so to speak, all the pics are taken in order whilst the door was open and without pushing down the big button on the left which is the on/off button.
it seems to be stuck in the middle setting whatever that is,cheers View media item 39066 View media item 39067 View media item 39068 View media item 39069

This doesn't really look much like a Whirlpool dishwasher, it looks more like a Bosch with a Whirlpool sticker. Are there any more numbers on the nameplate?
