Hi All,

In the living room we have an old air vent which was obviously there for the back boiler, which is now gone.

Its of the plastic type which is just inserted in to a ruddy great hole through the wall.

Whats the best practice to block these up inside and out?

It will look better if you toothe out the half bricks and replace with full bricks regards the outer visible skin. Use a sand/cement mortar to match existing.

The inner leaf can be bricked or blocked in without the need for toothing.

If your house is externally rendered then the latter will apply to both leaves of masonry.
