Hi.

I want to block my fireplace up in the bedroom. I have a fireplace in the living room below the bedroom. What is the best way to block up the one in he bedroom without worrying about smoke from the living coming up and through. I know your meant to use a air brick but does that mean the smoke would come through?

The upstairs and downstairs fireplaces should use separate flues within the chimney.

So smoke shouldn't be a problem.

Depends on your fireplace, but you could just take the grate out and put a sheet of wood over it, put a vent in it and paint it.

Ok cool.

I think I am gonna fill it with insulation and brick it yp with a air brick in the middle. Then after plastering put a vent over the air brick.
