We've had a dormer done and lost our eaves storage and need to board the loft to provide some storage space for things like Christmas decorations, suitcases etc.
I want to board the loft using a loft leg system (I did this for the eaves) but am a bit worried about the ceiling joists, they look a bit on the skinny side.
The joists are 4x2 and span 3.8m at 400mm centres, the eaves joists were the same but the span was about half that and we had a little movement in the ceiling after loading up.
Is there anything I can do to make this work?
Edit: I've seen post saying to glue and screw 4x2s to the top of the existing joists. At the halfway point of the span there is a beam sat at 90 degrees across the joists that has roof supports coming from it so I couldn't put uninterrupted timber lengths on top.
