These may seem like silly question. My downstairs floorboards are uneven, so I'm going to use 6mm plyboard to level them out.

a) What nails do I use?
b) How do I fix it to the concrete flooring around the fireplaces

It would be most appreciated.

Why not hire a heavy duty floor belt sander which will level out your floorboards.

I'd get killed for creating so much dust in the house.
apart from that there are quite sme gaps between old and new floorboards, which would come through in the carpet me thinks.

You could planed some of the flooring to the best you can then put down sheet of hardboards with staple gun.

Use Gripfill to glue it down.

Cheers for the Gripfill solution.

The thing is I've got the plyboard as I was told it was stronger and youdidn't have to wet it before hand as with the hardboard.

Are oval wire nails ok?
