Righ guys and gals... i need some help / advice..

A friend of mine has a Vokera boiler (Gas)...

To be honest the whole system hasnt been right since they moved in, I think i did post about it ages ago...

Anyways, Initally there was a leaking radiator valve and the pump was broken (Apperently)...

After several phone calls etc, the choice was made to put the system on to Grittish Bass Homecare 200 that covers boilers and heating...
A new Pump was fitted, and a replacment rad valve was fitted.... all ok and working...

Well 3 months down the line.... there is a problem... 1 radiator has stopped working (NOT GETTING HOT)...

Its the same radiator that had the leaky valve.... so they used the cover, made a phone call, and engineer came out....

Heres what im been told is the problem now.... They have been told that something is stuck in the pipework, as now there are two rads not working, and the system need to be flushed out to fix the problem at a cost of £500, and this isnt covered in the Homcare 200....

Ontop of this, when the engineer was playing with the system they decided to replace the diaphram as they were told it need doing as hot water was playing up (This was ok before engineer arrived)

Whats your thaugths on the above?

How easy is it to power flush the system?

Im thinking they are being spun a yarn here.... what you think.?

Look forward to pointers / advice on this....

in theory they should get their first blockage removed for free unless they were previously warned about the water quality in which case they are due nothing but a quote for a cut/clear and powerflush if its needed.

im guessing its an excell or flowmatic so its been in for a good while....water quality could be poor enough to cause a blockage.

check your terms and conditions and act accordingly.

Wouldnt mind finding out if this is the case for them...

I was thinking about just tracing the pipework when the heating is on and where the pipe stops getting hot and cutting out that section as a quick fix... Would it work?

Whats involved in flushing a system...

its not as easy as that.....if the pipe is completely blocked it probably wont be warm to the bit thats blocked. have a nose around under the floor and see what you can find. usually its a case of taking an educated guess and cutting pipe until you find it. pay particular attention to manifolds or tees in the pipework.

powerflushing can be a big job...thats why its pricey

No......British Gas at £500 is pricey. Jetflushing is not.

How much should they be looking at then?

If your name is anything to go by your location then do you fancy it? its not for from Harrogate...
