Hi,

How likely is it that a faulty boiler diverter valve causes the pump to make knocking noise?

My radiators become hot even when the central heating is off so one plumber quoted £85 for the diverter valve + £250 labour. Is it reasonable?

I have got Sime Friendly Format E.

Thanks for your help.

Sounds a bit steep, but must admit that the simes I have worked on where such a nightmare that I would quote over the odds as I would expect to have problems.

Thanks for quick response, bengasman.

Do you think that a faulty diverter valve could cause the pump to make knocking noise? It feels like the pump isn't getting enough water for central heating and is pushing air instead.

Have not heard a lot of knocking pumps, but I suppose it is possible.
