Hey,

I'm desperately trying to calculate the CO2 emissions, (and other flue gases) from a boiler. It is a gas boiler that heats water only with no central heating and is required to heat approx. 30,000 litres of water per day.
I do not have any more information on this boiler but an estimate... however inaccurate... would be really great. I am trying to design an air purification system and just need a vague amount for the emissions from the boiler to feed through my system..

Thank you in advance

So you have a boiler of unknown make, model and efficiency? You presumably don't know if it's set up and burning correctly either. There is absolutely no way of giving you an answer on here. Your RGI can put an analyser in the flue and give you a percentage CO2 content, which would at least give you a starting point to calculate the emissions. I would not recommend attaching anything at all to the flue that wasn't designed to be there though, you could end up poisoning yourself with carbon monoxide quite quickly.

You will need to supply more info, especially boiler details, how the water is used, and what the purpose of the airfiltration is.
Is this a school project?

Approximately 300kg of CO2 per day, 100kg of H2O, and very small amounts of other gases with correct combustion.

Ignore the doomsayers. It makes little difference what the make and model of the boiler is. I've made assumptions about the temperature of the water and the efficiency of the heating but these will not affect the results by an order of magnitude and you said you only wanted an estimate.

Well you could condense the H²O and freeze the CO² into a solid and then have 95% of Nitrogen left with a bit of O².

Without telling us what you are doing it all sounds rather pointless.

The total amount of carbon and water coming out will be proportional to the amount of gas going in, so if you know how much gas it is using....

A flue gas analyser would then tell you the proportions of CO, CO2 and other gases in the exhaust.

It makes little difference what the make and model of the boiler is.
Methinks it makes a difference whether you are using a potty myson or Viessmann 200; the latter is about 65% more efficient and will thus use a lot less gas.
