Hi

we have a valiant 242 combi boiler

the problem is we have noticed that the recharge valve is leaking, the expansion tank is losing air, very slowly.

we have tried to changing the inner valve but it does not come out only gets loose like.

any advice would be appreciated

thanks

Screw a cap on it that would stop teh leak.
You could take one from a car tyre.

hi

yes inner valve

we have the removal tool they use for car tyres

also have one from a car tyre but the one in the boiler is not coming out

even with a good pull

is it fixed and not meant to come out even though its fully unscrewed ?

thnks

What is this "inner valve"?

Tony

the inner valve would be the tiny pin that presses down when you wish to fill with air, its the same in car tyres but for some reason does not pull out after it is unscrewed from our boiler

thanks

It will come out..you may have to use needle nose pliers to pull the pin out then use the removal tool (if you have the grey one with the reverse thread) and get the remains out...Its a pain in the backside but do-able

The shraeder valve needs to be loosened with the correct tool and pulled out

If this does not happen, just give it pull with long nose pliers

MRGASSAFE ,the dust cap will not make it air tight, the clue is in the name DUST CAP!

Good luck, just a bit of perseverance and you will be ok

I've used a schraeder valve extension in a pinch before then just leave it on. Bit of a bodge but it works.
