Hello All;

My rented house has an Ideal HE30 Isar (I have just been reading on here that they are completely crap)

The boiler has a good power supply and when turned on the exhaust fan runs. The fan runs forever until the power is turned off again.

There is no display shown on the boiler.

My landlord is out of the country for the next 3 week so it looks like I will have to get it sorted and pass on the invoice.

What is the cheapest way to get he boiler running? From the forum it looks like it could be a PCB faulty.

Thanks

Your landlord might be out of the country but you should have a contact number, don't spend any of your money or you might not get it back.

Ring the landlord as soon as possible.
He has to give authorisation for work being done.
If you can't get hold of him within a reasonable time
then go ahead for a repair and take this out of the rent.
He/she should provide you with sufficient contact details
of or what to do in such occasions.

Of course he will get it back. By deducting the money from the rent!
Best option as I am sure you will glean through other posts is a fixed price repair as this will protect you from the domino effect that sometimes occurs with these boilers. As an example the pcb could be water damaged and would need replacing but it's damaged because water got on it from a leak which also needs repairing.

With no hot water you should expect some action within 24 hrs.

Try contacting the landlord and keep a record of what you did.

Then call Ideal for a fixed price repair.

It could well be the PCB but don't get involved in trying to take risky action which will not guarantee a fix! Its not your job to try to save your landlord money.

He should have ensured you have a contact method. Does he have an agent you can give the problem to?

Ideal followed by Brit Gas.
