Thanks for the replies.

Its concerning for me as a member of the public that my Gas -Safe Engineer (who`s reg name & member I have checked online) assures me their method of doing this work is safe and will not give any probs. Yet here I have a consensus of Engineers saying this is not the case.

However, I will enlist a couple of other "Engineers" to quote.

Is not just engineers.... It's also a senior member of the technical side of the boiler manufacturer. Can't get much more confirmed than that I'm afraid.

There seems little mileage in spending cash on re-fluing an Isar - regardless of the technicalities and legalities

Afraid I am of the same opinion as some others have stated, you would be better putting the cost of having this flue extended towards having a new boiler installed and flued correctly, you have a very poor and very expensive to repair boiler
