boiler guide

I get the impression that they are some sort of referring/advertising agency who get their money by charging installers to be with them. Ultimately, you are paying that service.

"Since joining Boiler Guide in 2011 our workload has doubled..."

Iirc, they generate job lead's and pass 3 leads to local independent installers registered on their system. The 3 independent installers each have to pay a fee for the lead just to quote (n). Thou they may have changed their policy .

Extract from their glossy internet add,

How much is a new boiler and how do we know? We’ve researched the current prices of the most popular boilers on the market and balanced it with our 10 years of working with a network of over 5,000 registered installers.

I'm happy to pay a referal fee (have it tacked on to my final bill as a hidden cost) if it means aforementioned independent installer is quality rather than cowboy.. (unlike the similar arrangement with mybulder or checkatrade where the reviews are often a sham and the only builders who use are those that have a somewhat tarnished rep within their own local area).

I wonder if any plumbers/heating installlers on here are affiliated with it?

So far - it's as rubbish as I was expecting - referred to another referral, "BOXT" who evidently quote for a job without even seeing it. Sounds like a crap way to do business or an even crapper way to specify a system
