Ecoflam Burner for kerosene (Class C)

70/90

The output has been set at 70, and the boiler seems to work hard - boiler stat set at max and rads get hot but not very hot.

Presumably the '70/90' means there is flexibility to adjust the set-up so the boiler works more efficiently, or am I misunderstanding?

I reckon you are correct!
I have a boiler with 3 optional outputs according to the specification although with one option the burner is same make different model.
The difference in the other options seem to be 'size of nozzle' and 'pump pressure'

You question is slightly confused.

The 70/90 probably refers to btu's or something.
Usually with most oil boilers they quote a number of nozzles and oil
pressures that give a certain kW output.
You have the middle nozzle most likely you will get a maximum of
? kW out of the boiler.

On the boiler will be a thermostat control. That will control how hot the
water in the boiler is allowed to get to. Low setting might be 50 to 60 high setting might be about 85 degrees.

Mike, have you had your boiler serviced anually?

If so did the engineer comment on the power he had set it for?

Older boilers were often speced as a figure like 70 to mean 70,000 BTU which is about 21 kW.

You need to do a whole house heat loss calc or add up the outputs of each rad.
