Hi,

Strange one this. I think there is air trapped in the system somewhere, but so far no luck in resloving.

Background is woke up to no heating this morning...brrrr! Pilot light on, honeywell valve working, pump working. After checking, went in loft and saw header tank empty. Ahhh so that's the prob I thought. Filled up and tried again but no luck at all.

Boiler fires up, runs for two mins and shuts down (tried a few times now). Noticed that the expansion pipe back up to the header tank was steaming away like a kettle...so blockage still somewhere. Have bled all radiators and checked everything else, so now not sure what to do?

Should I drain the whole system and refil, bleeding all rads, etc in an effort to "cure" the problem?

Thanks.

Its likely that cold feed pipe from expansion tank to system is blocked.
If a magnet sticks to the pipe just before it connects to the system you know its full of crud. Also you will know that there ain't much of the water that you put in the tank has actually got through to the system.
