Hi all,

I went to check my boiler today, as I'm thinking of changing my thermostats, and noticed a puddle of water underneath it (photo with the big green circle mark up). It's leaking a water droplet every ~20-30 seconds. It's not the only issue that I've noticed in the last few months. There was an occasion where it errored with an E9 code but resetting it solved that. And then yesterday when I went to switch on the heating on the third floor (first time on the upper floors this year) it wouldn't go on. It was only when I boosted the 2nd floor that everything came on.

I have a feeling it's all linked to a pressure problem as the pressure valve is only showing 0.5 bar of pressure which is very low (see photo).

Do I need to call a plumber or is there something fairly simple that I can do. And is the leak going to put me at risk of an electric shock and should the boiler even be switched on with a leak? I moved in to the house a year ago and the sticker on the boiler shows that it hasn't been serviced in 5 years.

I've just found the below website and it looks as though I can repressurise the boiler using the internal filling loop (which is the blurry white thing in the foreground of the photo ending 4424.

Video of how to do it here so I'll try that:

Ok, job done! It's only 7:54am on a Saturday morning and I feel like I've achieved more than I normally would in a whole day. So I reckon that I've got a good shot of convincing my wife that I should be able to play a round of golf today rather than look after the kids right?!

The two benefits of increasing the pressure were, instantly hotter water, so I'm assuming the boiler efficiency has increased, and the leak seems to have stopped. There have been a few drops but I'm hoping that was water that had already leaked prior to the pressure increase and hadn't fallen yet.
