Boiler lockout.

All I can say is that's a standard length plume kit if has been correctly fitted it should work.
You can't just modify a flue system need to follow manufacturers instructions also you would void warranty.
We have for some time refused to fit worcester oil boilers and now won't even service current models.

The model I have is a 25/32, with a flue length < 4m. Looking at that document suggests that a damper should have been fitted, and I'm not sure that it has. I'll refer back to the installer to find out.

Thanks guys. This is all great information. I'm not sure what nozzle has been installed, but I'll quiz the installers again.

Edit. I've just looked at the invoice for the last service, and the nozzle supplied is 0.75 x 80 EH, giving an output of 28.5KW and no requirement for a damper. :(

Further edit.

I queried this with WB directly and received this. It looks like the damper is required anyway because of the plume kit:

Thank you for your enquiry.

The absence of a flue damper would explain this behaviour. When using the plume management kit, regardless of the flue length, the flue damper would be required. The fact that the boiler operates correctly when the plume kit is removed would support this as the short flue length without the plume kit would not require a damper. Its function is to correct the balance between the exhaust and air intake which the strong winds are upsetting.

Please contact your installer to confirm that the damper has been installed or to fit this part where it has been left absent from the original installation.

I also clarified if the output is relevant when a plume kit is used and received this:

Thank you for your enquiry.

Regardless as to the output of the boiler, the flue damper is required in any installation where a plume management kit has been installed. If the plume kit were to be removed and the flue re-routed, then this situation may change.

Kind regards,

Seems to be pretty conclusive. I just need to clarify if a damper was installed, but I suspect not. Thanks again for all the input.

Hi guys.

Now confirmed that a damper wasn't installed. The are returning next Friday (28th) to fit one. I'm so glad I posted here, so thanks to everyone who contributed.
