Boiler permanently on

I have a Ferroli boiler (I can't see the model number but it isn't a combi). Yesterday it started to misbehave. Put shortly, it isn't taking any notice of the timer (which is set to off for both heating and hot water) or the thermostat and is staying on all the time. I can only turn it off by switching off the electricity.

Any suggestions?

I think it's the motorised valve. Would that make sense?

yes it does if it stuck on central heating only it will by pass the timer and stat
